Such a pleasant surprise! We were traveling through the area and were looking for breakfast place that served “real” food! We certainly got what we were looking for! A beautiful 3-egg omelet stuffed with veggies! (Mine included sauteed onions, bacon, asparagus and cheese!) very filling, good tasting! The kids meals were on the higher side price wise, but they came looking like an adult plate with plenty of *protein*, (including a homemade sausage patty!). Our server Tammy was so pleasant and sweet! Excellent service, and very nice ambiance!

Wow! Big 5 stars! Such a bright and clean place! Food was superb, waitress was amazing. And and just in case you missed it the food was amazing! Will 100% be coming back. For how busy it was I could still have a very easy conversation without having to talk over the room. I had the pork chop, wife had shrimp scampi. So much food! At first we thought the pieces were a bit high, but at the end, we 100% got our moneys worth For how big the Portions are (wife had about half her shrimp 6-7 left and pasta) The pastor was perfectly al dente and had twice as many shrimp as you would normally see at other restaurants. My pork chop was about an inch thick and grilled to perfection juicy until the last bite and just enough char to bring out some great flavors. The sauce that they use is savory, but get hanging at the same time and blended perfectly with the pork chop! The grilled corn that came with mine was absolutely amazing 10 out of 10 would get this again! We also got the lemon Gelato to share. Perfect size for a single or to share. The perfect end to our meal! There’s a little bit of salt on it, and it bounced out the sweetness of the gelato Perfectly.

Our first experience (August 2024) was amazing. The space is very bright and inviting. Service was quick and very friendly. My omelette was amazing, and I like the "build your own" option. Everyone enjoyed their food. Coffee was fresh. A friend recommended Breaks to us, and while in Hays we met some friends there for breakfast. No complaints. A wonderful experience.

Our meal at Breaks last night was truly delicious! I had the Lobster ravioli—creamy cheese and lobster filled pasta with a divine sauce (beurre blanc?) with more lobster on top. I reluctantly shared one of my ravioli with my mother-in-law, and could only just refrain from licking my plate clean. My husband had the Shrimp Po’Boy which he found perfectly fried and very generous (more than he could finish), with very tasty shoestring fries. The food arrived hot and in a timely manner; our server was friendly and competent. This was our fifth or sixth visit since their opening. Despite some early issues with kitchen timing which seem resolved, we’ve been rooting for them as a welcome and needed addition to the Hays dining scene. Fresh-made food (not pulled out of the freezer and dropped in the fryer), locally sourced ingredients, an engaging menu, and a screen-free dining room make for a great meal out. Some additional items we’ve especially enjoyed were the Salmon salad nicoise, the Eggs Benedict, the Veggie Omelette, the Lemon blueberry Dutch baby, and Gigi’s potatoes.

Breaks Eatery & Bar is a classy, upscale breakfast and lunch restaurant. Everything about is done right from the substantial tableware (no pressed silverware here!) to the chinaware and fine art on the walls, Breaks does it right. And the food is delicious. I had the Breakfast ABelt. The sourdough. Bread was fresh, tender and lightly toasted. The arugula, tomato, avocado and sprouts were fresh and the bacon was thick and delicious. It came with grilled potatoes that were seasoned just right as were my over-easy eggs on the A-Belt. My wife has 2 eggs with ham, oatmeal toast with a. Home made jam and a large fluffy pancake that had a hint of vanilla with maple syrup. We both enjoyed the fresh coffee with our meal and I also had a glass of OJ that tasted like it was freshly squeezed. I'd eat at Breaks anytime.

Went to Breaks in November for brunch and a few days later for lunch (shout out to Tammy). It was not too busy either time. I got eggs benedict with hash puppies and the BELT with fries. Benedict was perfect, love the arugula on there, and I’m all about the hash puppies. (Potatoes were also tasted from mom’s plate and they’re delicious.) The sandwich was delightful—the bread was outstanding and seemed super fresh and I was pleasantly surprised by what tasted like house made ketchup. It’s not a cheap eat but everything I had was high quality.
